Outspoken conservative actor Jon Voight recently took to Twitter to express his support for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump after audio of Trump making demeaning remarks about women landed the nominee in hot water.
In a series of tweets, Voight told his followers to let Trump know they were behind him, and said he hoped God would give Trump the strength to continue his calling.
Voigt, who is relatively new to Twitter, also took a moment to criticize fellow actor Robert De Niro, who had slammed Trump, saying the nominee was a “punk” and a “dog” who didn’t know what he was talking about, The Washington Times reported.
De Niro, in what was supposed to be a non-partisan video urging people to vote, topped off his insults by expressing the desire to punch Trump in the face. The video was deemed unusable, Snopes reported.
Voight said Trump’s words were not nearly as damaging as De Niro’s were in his “ugly rant,” adding that Trump’s words — unlike former President Bill Clinton’s actions — didn’t actually hurt anyone.
“I don’t know of too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years,” the Oscar-winning actor continued.
Voight continued with a rhetorical question: “Can you imagine if any Republican said words like Robert De Niro used — against Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama? All hell would break loose.”
against Trump. Let Donald Trump know we are completely behind him, and may God give him the strength to continue his calling.

That’s a good point, because we all know hell would indeed break loose.
Voight has been a staunch Trump supporter for quite some time, and this isn’t the first time he’s called on Republicans to throw their support behind the nominee.
Last month he issued a wake-up call to conservatives who are against Trump, claiming that there was a dark cloud over the country and that a vote for Hillary Clinton could very well usher in the end of the America we know and love.
